About Us
His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers in the desire to consolidate on the gains of promoting peace, unity and development in his domain (Bida Emirate), Niger State and Nigeria at large, since he became the 13th Etsu Nupe on 11th September, 2003 established THE ETSU YAHAYA ABUBAKAR FOUNDATION (EYAF) in February, 2024 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), for promoting charitable causes and humanitarian services that will ensure sustainable improvements in the lives of the most disadvantaged people.
The Foundation has been incorporated in Nigeria to focus on criteria-based, specific grants and social support programmes in Education, Health, Agriculture and Youth & Women development, with the overall aim of making lasting impact in the lives of the targeted populations.
The Foundation will operate in accordance with global best practices, standards and international codes of corporate governance. Hence, its programmes and projects will be guided by sustainability principles and measurable by the highest level of impact on the standard of living of the targeted beneficiaries.
Etsu Yahaya Abubakar Foundation is a private independent philanthropic grant making organisation committed to improving the quality of life of Nigerians, by supporting health and education interventions implemented by Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) registered and working in Nigeria..
The Foundation was established in 2009 by Etsu Yahaya Abubakar – a retired Nigerian Army, an Emir, astute and successful businessman. The Foundation is based in Bida – Niger State, Nigeria with offices suited at C/O wadata Palace Bida, Niger State.

Etsu Yahaya Abubakar Foundation has partnered with vairous institutions or persons that are able, ready and willing to put resources in cash or kind to support project ideas as the basis for collaboration. Our Main Goals
- Enhance community health care by providing free medical services to rural communities which lack adequate medical facilities;
- Improve the quality of education of children and young people; and
- Alleviate the extreme poverty in communities across the country by providing humanitarian assistance, clean drinking water, and encouraging the empowerment of women.

ETSU YAHAYA ABUBAKAR FOUNDATION'S FOCUS AREAS
The Foundation will support or implement intervention initiatives and programmes in the following areas.
EDUCATION
- Scholarship Grants, initially for the Girl Child, admitted into Nigerian public universities, for undergraduate courses in Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Agriculture Engineering and Computer Engineering. (Tagged Hajiya Habiba Nnabantigi Scholarship Grant)
- Basic Education Intervention projects – provision of teaching and learning materials to public primary schools, including pupils’ desks, teachers’ furniture, exercise books, textbooks and teaching aid.
- Capacity building (training programmes) for teachers of public primary and secondary schools.
HEALTH
- Partnership with national and international philanthropic health professionals to carry out health missions/outreach programmes to improve access to quality healthcare, especially for children under five (5) and the aged (above 70 years of age).
- Supporting community based Primary Healthcare Centres with consumables and drugs, during natural disasters and emergencies.
- Partnership with NGOs and other philanthropic organizations to construct and equip Primary Healthcare Centres in hard-to-reach or isolated communities.
AGRICULTURE
- Provision of farming inputs and implements to farmers’ cooperatives groups to boost agricultural production and food security.
- Agricultural Extension services, by encouraging farmers to accept and adopt technological changes in their farming practices.
- Tractor Hiring services to farmers’ cooperatives cluster groups.
WOMEN AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT
- Entrepreneurship training workshops for widows in registered cooperative groups.
- Financial grants to widows in registered cooperative groups.
- Establishment and management of Orphanage Homes.
- Educational scholarship for orphans and other vulnerable children.
- Support to Social Rehabilitation/Skills Acquisition Centres.
- Sporting activities to promote unity and peaceful coexistence among the youth.
